Göteborg Horse Show

The annual Göteborg Horse Show in the Scandinavium Arena was held for the first time in the spring of 1977. Since then over 2.3 miljon visitors have seen the great stars competing in Gothenburg, in showjumping as well as in dressage. Furthermore, since 1992, the Göteborg Horse Show has collaborated successfully with the fair EuroHorse.
Showjumping
The World Cup™ Final has been arranged here practically every other year since 1979 and so far eleven finals have been settled in Göteborg. World Cup™ winners like Ian Miller/Big Ben, John Whitaker/Milton and Rodrigo Pessoa/Baloubet du Rouet have established themselves as favourites with the audience, but many Swedish riders have also been competing successfully.
In the middle of the 1980′s the Göteborg Horse Show was honoured with the prestigeous “The Worlds Best Indoor Event” award, and it has become well known for its large,
young and enthusiastic audience. Further more, it was Göteborg Horse Show that introduced spectacular flower arrangements in the arena – a concept that has become
a standard on the international scene.

Dressage
In 1982 Göteborg Horse Show introduced advanced dressage in the show and in 1989 Scandinavium hosted its first final in the Dressage World Cup™. The fact that 11,000 people saw Margit Otto-Crepin/Corlandus win the World Cup™ impressed the international dressage expertise greatly. What a great enthusiasm for the horse sport in Göteborg!
Six times the final has been settled in Göteborg, the latest in 2003. In 1998 the Swedish rider Louise Nathorst/Walk on Top won, which was very popular in Göteborg and in the whole of indeed.

The Scandinavium Arena

Scandinavium is one of the top indoor arenas in northern Europe. It is annually hosting a large number of conserts, shows, sports events, exhibitions and fairs that attract large crowds all year.
The tradition goes on
During the show of 2006 the audience was counted to 82,593 people! This is the highest number ever at a 4-day event.
Göteborg Horse Show 2008 included the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final, which “came back home” to Gothenburg for its 30th anniversary where it all started back in 1979. It was a bigger show than ever and the visitors were counted to more than 87,000 during this 5-day event. It was the 12th jumping final that was held in Göteborg.
The next event is in February 2012 and includes the FEI World Cup™ series in dressage and jumping. It will be the 36th consecutive horse show in the Scandinavium arena.
